Ash Wednesday is often framed as shame and mortality. This gathering begins instead with awe. The dust we are is stardust, forged in supernovae and carried through deep time into bone and breath.
From that cosmic wonder, we move into release from false guilt, into verdure, into a pause that restores the dry lands within us. This is not an escape from injustice or anger. It is a return to the One Life so that when we say no, we do so from rootedness rather than reaction.
Ash that knows it is loved can grow green again.
